I Am A Bible Believer

I am so blessed to be part of a church that teaches the Bible. We believe in the fundamentals of the faith. We don’t read ANYTHING into the Bible that isn’t there, we don’t make it say what it doesn’t say, and we don’t go to the Bible to try to justify our own preconceived ideas about what a man or denomination tells us it says.

This Bible that I hold in my hands is THE word of God. I believe it from cover to cover. I don’t apologize for what it teaches and I don’t compromise what it teaches to be popular or to be politically correct. If the Bible says something is sin, then it is sin. If the Bible says that we should live a certain way, then that is the way we ought to live. If the Bible says that we should NOT do certain things, then we shouldn’t do them.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Psalm 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.

Psalm 119:97 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
98 Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.
99 I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.
100 I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.
101 I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.
102 I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me.
103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

Proverbs 22:20 Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
21 That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

I know that there are people that doubt its validity and its worth. I know that there are people that don’t believe. I know that there are people that make fun and mock those that do believe. But I will tell you this without shame, I believe that every word in the KJV Bible is the inspired, inerrant, preserved, Word of God. It is the sole authority for my life and even if everyone else denies it and walks away from it, I still believe. I will still proclaim its truths.

In these last days, it is SO important to certain of what you believe and to be ready to give an answer to anyone that asks you about what you believe.

1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

But you can’t do that if you don’t read and STUDY your Bible. You have to know what it says if you are going to ever share and give an answer to those that ask you why you believe what you do.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Proverbs 22:20 Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
21 That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

I love this old quote taken from the Gideon’s Bible –
The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable.
Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.
It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword and the Christian’s charter. Here too, Heaven is opened and the gates of Hell disclosed.
Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure.
It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, rewards the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.
