The Choice is Yours

Decisions

Unfortunately we all have regrets. There are things we’ve done and decisions that we’ve made that we would love to be able to correct. But we can’t, they are done and there is nothing we can do to change them. But we have a choice, we can dwell on them and be miserable or we can let the past remain in the past and move forward and try not to make the same mistakes again.

Memories are a curious thing. They can be source of great joy or they can be source of great sadness and regret. And it seems like the older you get the more you think about the way things use to be or maybe could have been. We can get lost in those memories and wish things could have been different or wish things could be like they use to be. But when we do that, we miss out on the memories we could be creating now.

That is why I like the future so much. There are no mistakes, no bad decisions, and no regrets unless we create them. I go back to the past only to try to learn from it, I don’t want to live in it. May God help me to make decisions that will leave no regrets.

Philippians 3:12-14 – 12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.
13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

As much as we might want to, we can’t change the past. But we can affect the way our future is going to be. We can start today and take our lives in a completely different direction. We can turn around(repent) and start going in the right direction, the direction that God wants us to go.

When we trust Him as our Savior, He makes all things new(2 Corinthians 5:17). All of the old things are done away, all of our sins, and we become a new creation. It doesn’t matter what you have done, He still loves you and wants a relationship with you(Romans 5:8). You will never find a greater love and you will never find a more fulfilling life or a greater peace than the peace and love than the one that you will have with Jesus.

Today, you have a chance to change your life. You have a chance to take your life in a completely different direction. You have the opportunity to stop living in the past and find a new reason to live for the future. The choice is your to make. What will it be?
